Church gives Ondo health centre a face lift MEMBERS of the Akure branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, on Thursday visited the Ondo State Community Health Centre on Arakale Road, Akure to carry out community service. At the event tagged, Latter Day Saints All African Service Project, members of the church spent four hours to clean the centre and its environment, washed some dirty items, cleared debris from the gutter and re-painted the walls of the health facility. The annual event, according to the spokesperson for the group, Ms. Kehinde Olusoga, is to provide community service to those in need and to also give church members the opportunity to participate in project that would benefit others. She said, "In the past years, the church has carried out similar projects in the Ondo State Specialist Hospital; the Oba Adesida Market; the Orphanage At Oba-Ile; and the Ondo State Radio vision Corporation." She explained that members of the church, led by the President, Nigeria Benin City Mission, Rev. Akingbade Ojo, helped to clean up and beautify the health facility. Olusoga said, "The services rendered were clearing overgrown weeds, removing debris from the drainage, general sanitation exercise of the environment and painting of the outer walls of the health center. "Our members had a good time serving their community because they believe strongly that when they are in the service of their fellow beings, they are only in the service of God."
