Church news for OCT : Church services are held each Sunday beginning at 10 AM. Rev. Warren Scamman, will be filling the pulpit weekly. A Communion Service will be held on Oct. 6th & Nov.3rd. A time of fellowship and refreshments follow each service in the chapel. The church is handicap accessible. Denise Shaw is providing CD music for each service. Deacon Charlene Steele will be filling the pulpit on Oct. 13th & 20th, while the pastor is on vacation. Rev. Scamman may be reached at 684-3290 if anyone would like to call upon him. The Dan Schall concert was a huge success. All enjoyed the testimonies, songs and jokes. Thanks to all who contributed to the pot luck. Also, thanks goes to Al & Mary Eurban for bringing this special gospel event to Peru MOUNTAIN MARKET IS BEING HELD ON FRIDAY OCT. 11TH—4-8 PM AND OCT. 12TH —9-4PM. AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. Baked bean dinner will be served on Friday and Homemade Beef Stew on Sat. at noon. Snack bar is open with grilled foods and homemade pies will be available. Table space is still available—call 655-2613 or 655-8370 for information. All crafts and baked goods along with vendors will be accepted. There will be a 50/50 raffle at the church table along with Cabot VT. Wheel cheese and handcrafted gumball machines made by Jon Smith. Raffle tickets will be available. Ken & Lana Hall have donated a cord of wood all cut, split with local delivery. They also donated maple syrup (from Peru Trees) to the church table. This will help the church in fund raising for miscellaneous church repairs. A huge thanks and special blessing to them. Along with the cord of wood with be a 4 cup Mr. Coffee maker and a one foot Santa. The drawing will be held at NOON on Nov. 23rd at the transfer station. Tickets are available from any church member and will be made available on some Saturdays at the compactor. The Sue Mead presentation will be held on Sat. Oct. 19th at the Peru Fire Station. She does lots of missionary work when disasters strike. She will be available to show pictures and tell the story of storm Sandy. Many of our Peru residents contributed supplies to this disaster and she traveled many areas that were so thankful for the items they received. We will have a pot luck at 5pm followed by her presentation at 6pm. The entire community is invited to this event. A free will offering will be held and those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable item for cleaning—such as bleach, paper towels, disposable gloves, pails and brushes—etc. to assist those who need to clean up after a disaster. The church members voted on Sunday, Sept. 22nd to add an electric toilet to their current bathroom. This will give members toilet facilities year round, when the water is shut down over the winter months. Members are also in the process of a clothing drive. Clothes may be dropped off at the Mountain Market and stored in the church for a time when someone requests assistance or a need arises through either our community or through other unforeseen events. Jen Smith is wondering if some women in Peru would be interested in attending a “WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY”. ????She said she can find some very interesting topics for women to get into. She led a study like this when she was traveling with her husband in the service. Call 655-8201 for more details.
