Cicero wrote and believed that a person can unfold the idea of a good man which lies wrapped up in his own mind. Cicero was inspired of this truth that Socrates and Plato knew: that is, we all lived with God as spirits with knowledge before we came to this Earth. And now we are to remember that connection. Platos Doctrine of Recollection: ... the idea that we are born possessing all knowledge and our realization of that knowledge is contingent on our discovery of it...The soul once lived in Reality, but got trapped in the body. It once knew everything, but forgot it. The goal of Recollection is to get back to true Knowledge. To do this, one must overcome the body. This doctrine implies that nothing is ever learned, it is simply recalled or remembered... that each soul existed before birth with the Form of the Good and a perfect knowledge of Ideas. Thus, when an Idea is learned it is actually just recalled.
