Cinnamon Christmas Tree Treat Ingredients: 1 package pre-made, store-bought dough Flour, as needed Melted butter, as needed Sugar Cinnamon Powdered sugar Milk Green Sprinkles Red & Green M&M’s Instructions: Start with pre-made, store-bought dough. Allow it to rise according to the package directions. Add flour to the surface you’ll be working on. Put the dough on the floured surface. Make sure you flour both sides of the dough. Flatten the dough into a circle with a rolling pin to be a littler thicker than a pancake. Smother the dough with melted butter. Sprinkle sugar & cinnamon generously over the buttered dough. Transfer the dough to an ungreased baking sheet. To start shaping the dough, fold the right edge of the dough into the center. Follow that by folding the left edge of the dough into the center, on top of the right edge, forming a teepee shape, with the point at the top. Using a pair of scissors, begin forming the tree branches by cutting towards the center at an angle towards the top of the tree, leaving about an inch between each cut. Be sure not to cut too far into the tree, leaving enough space in the middle so the tree stays connected. Leave 1-2 inches at the bottom of the tree for the trunk. Continue making symmetrical branch cuts on the other side of the dough. Using the last section of the tree (the widest part), roll the dough up like a cinnamon roll, forming the trunk of the tree. Take each set of branches, and give them a half twist, starting with your thumb at the top side of the dough, twisting down, and ending with your thumb on the baking sheet. Be sure you’re bringing out the brown cinnamon spots with each twist. Let the tree rise for 20 minutes. Bake the tree at 350F degrees for about 20 minutes. While the dough is baking, you can make the icing. Combine powdered sugar and milk in a bowl. Stir with a rubber spatula until it has the texture of a glaze. While the tree is still warm, pour the icing over the Christmas tree until it looks like a snow-covered tree.
