Circa 1979-80, I made a 3D Shadowbox of Daredevil #158 (published by Marvel Comics in May 1979) simply because I liked the cover by Frank Miller & Josef Rubinstein. Little did I know it would be the landmark first appearance of the legendary Frank Miller on the book and increase in value. This issue was the last chapter in an ongoing story written by Roger McKenzie who did a fine job with the series. Later on when Denny ONeil became editor of the book, Miller would start writing and penciling the series with issue #168. Anyway, I have kept this shadowbox in my personal collection occasionally having it on display in a local comic book store or SDCC. Otherwise it has been in storage. Over the years, the red coloring had gotten badly sun faded from the store display and in my home. With my return to doing 3D Shadowbox work, I recently restored the 3D in preparation to my recent Long Beach Comic Con display booth where it attracted a lot of attention. At least one person on Instagram, batfan_forever, posted a photo there to his friend daredevil_born_again which a number of people saw. This video shows the restored 3D along side the original book cover and a scan print like that used in the restoration. Given that the book is priced on ebay ranging from $30 to around $500, Ive no idea what the value of this 3D might be worth.
