Cirencester 2nd XV 26 – Old Cryptians 2nd XV 15 Cirencester started playing up the slope and but made silly errors which resulted a penalty for the visitors within 2 minutes for handling on the ground. 0-3 Captain Bennett rallied his troops and Ciren responded well playing good basic percentage rugby. Hooker Williams found his namesake in a lineout and scrum half Doyle made a half break allowing half back partner Barker to break 2 tackles and score under the posts. Doyle converted 7-3 Centre Owen was a constant threat with his strong running but the final pass was not forthcoming. The rest of the half was a see saw battle and although Ciren dominated possession with forwards Owen, Niccole, Weir, Andrews and Watts punching good holes. Half time 7-3 From the kick off Rayalo caught the ball and was stopped just short of the try line, the ball was recycled down the back line with full back Harman adjudged to have been held up. From the resulting scrum Ciren went left and winger Humphreys was able to feed Harman and he touched down in the corner, the conversion was missed. 12-3 More good back play then saw winger Pirate to go over in the other corner. Doyle converted 19-3 Ciren tried to ensure everybody got some game time, allowing Skelton, Langley and Brunsdon onto the pitch. Old Crypts then had a sustained period of pressure in which they were able to score 2 tries and 1 conversion to bring the score to 19-15. Ciren settled and continued to attack the opposition line resulting in a well taken try for Pumfret. Doyle converted Final Score 26-15 The win puts Ciren top of the Gloucester & District Reserve League 3.
