Citizen Q: A new report says young people in Nova Scotia aren’t doing so well. The numbers come from the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia, a charity that helps out other charities. It says our youth are jobless, debt-ridden and depressed. Kids in Grade 8 are underperforming in math, science and reading. 30% of teens are overweight or obese. Almost 10% say they’ve attempted suicide. The youth unemployment rate here is the highest in the country, and graduates have the second highest debt load in Canada, at over $16,000. Do you think kids have it harder now? Call 407-2100 and let us know what you think.
