Citizens of Wichita, did you know that since the 90s our city, yes Wichita Kansas, has spent 240 MILLON dollars towards Aquifer Storage and Recovery project? This project was designed to restore the Equus Bed located under north of Valley Center to City of Bennton. The projected cost to finish this project is 300 MILLON dollars. While the headlines have been about the airports name change, this very important topic has been discussed by the council this last week also. The new discussion regarding this project is whether its financially wise to continue this project. They are discussing whether stopping this project and starting a new one would be the right thing to do.... financially. Ha! One of the new plans purposed is to start the building of a new recovery system at El Eldorado lake thatll pump into the Equus bed. Guess what, they estimate that to be 150 MILLON, only to build it. They also estimate 150 MILLON TO BUY THE WATER FROM EL DORADO. So, if we add that up, it equals 300 MILLON dollars. Hmmm same price.... They also discussed a third idea, recycle our waste water... yup take our poopy pee runoff filter it and give it back to us. How many of us were aware of any of this?! This is a 20 year project that they want to halt..... after already spending 240 MILLON dollars, these are the people who can make or break a great idea.... we need water to live. Water is a necessity. And these people are trying to sabotage a key to our future success of water during future droughts. I am in disbelief that I am 30 and have LIVED IN WICHITA FOR 30 YEARS and have NEVER HEARD OR KNOWN OF SUCH A THING. We are the voters, we can change our world. Later this morning I will post links regarding this very important topic.
