Citizenship in the Comminuty .... A display under construction - feedback welcome! Surrounding the Egan Center you will find notable Massachusetts residents who are Scouts and Scout leaders. Many of the residents were born here, others relocated here, but they are all part of the fabric of Scouting and the fabric of Massachusetts. They are our community. The story contained in these artifacts is as much about Massachusetts as it is about the Boy Scouts. Authors and rock stars, scientists and comedians, presidents and all-Stars, captains of industry - theyre all here, in Massachusetts and they all share their common bond with the Boy Scouts. When you walk through the halls, read the letters and hear the stories. Learn how a famous Massachusetts Scout helped to heal the country after 9/11 using the skills he sharpened in his Andover Troop. Read the letter from an Eagle Scout sent to every area Scout after winning the World Series for the Red Sox in 2013. Laugh along with a Hollywood comedian as he tells his story about growing up in Cambridge and attending summer camp each year. Be inspired by an Eagle Scout whose work as a summer camp nature director lead him to become a lifetime naturalist who went on to win two Pulitzer Prizes for his groundbreaking non-fiction work regarding biodiversity. These are just some of our Scouts from our community. Of course, our the famous Scouts are just a fraction of the entire positive impact the Scouting program has on our community. The heavy lifting is done day to day by Cub Masters, Den Leaders, Scout Masters and parents. The heritage committee is hard at work uncovering and developing everyday Scouts and the history of Scouting for future displays.
