City Commission confidential...1) Our constituency lobbied for NOT bulldozing the PAL gym until a new facility was built! DONE! 2) KWFD WILL be the best option for running our ambulance service for many obvious reasons, but until the union representing the rank and file agrees and until there are guarantees that new hires will have benefits and a pension plan, we are on hold. Also, why did Dr. Cohen shift gears from prepping an RFP for KWFD to consulting lobbying for the take over? Why didnt Mr.. Vitas keep the City Commission in the loop, or even our City Attorney Shawn Smith? Mr. Vitas did not ask the City for direction until 2 weeks ago, and although this ambulance transition had been discussed as early as September 2013 Shawn was not brought into the loop until mid-January, and then because he overheard a conversation! 3) We postponed the Sound Ordinance, allegedly because a Commissioner wanted to change a Commercial zone into residential. 4) Finally, the Commission on a 6-1 vote approved a resolution supporting Senator Bullards bill for legalizing recreational marijuana! I supported it l! STAY TUNED! Like I really need to tell you that! :-)
