City Police, Kahaani script winning tale It was business as usual on the seventh day of Rev Fr Donald Dias Football Tournament as Ahmedabad City Police (ACP) `A and Kahaani Senior posted easy wins to book their semi-final berth on Thursday. On the second day of quarter-finals, policemen broke many hearts to beat hosts St Xaviers College 4-0 while Kahaani Senior slammed six past a hapless Rising Sun Football Academy (RSFA). Riding on the home support, the young guns of St Xaviers College looked determined to once again to create an upset as they matched their seasoned rivals in the first half. Against the tide, Pankaj Datania gave policemen the lead in the 34th minute. But things changed as the game progressed into the second half. It is the relative inexperience of St Xaviers boys that, perhaps, undid their spirited fight as Imrankhan Pathan made it 2-0 in the 66th minute, before completing his brace in the 75th minute. With time not on their side, the home team appeared to have given up for any miracle that allowed Vishal Chudi to complete the proceedings for policemen with a 88th minute strike. KAHAANI ECLIPSE RSFA In the second semi-final, Kahaani Seniors appeared to dominate RSFA from the word go. And their persistence paid off when Shkati Chawda gave them the lead in the 15th minute before Vikramaditya Chabra made it 2-0 four minutes later. Not ones to sit on their lead, Kahaani soon made it 3-0 with Jayendra Grums 25th minute strike and Shakti then completed his brace with the 29th minute strike. It was all over for RSFA before the half-time. Sensing their advantage, Kahaani eased a bit in the second half, but not enough to gift their opponents any chance to create any fairytale. PK Saicharan (47th) and Fanoosh Anand (69th) then completed the proceedings as Kahaani eased into the semis. In the semi-finals, on Friday, Kahaani Senior will be up against the seasoned Reserve Bank of India in the first match of the day. Later on, City Police `A will face a strong St Josephs FC.
