City Safety Coordinator Chris Kaelin Recognized for Saving Fellow Employees Life. On October 20, 2014, while participating in an emergency management exercise at Lake Gibson High School, Safety Coordinator, Chris Kaelin, prevented a fellow employee from choking to death on a piece of food that had become lodged in his throat. After taking a bite of food, the employee realized that the food was stuck in his throat, and his efforts to dislodge it were proving to be futile. He became unable to talk, and was desperately trying to get someones attention to provide assistance. Chris immediately recognized that the employee was in dire need of assistance and came to his aid. Through Chris efforts, the food was dislodged from the employees throat, and he was able to breathe again. This employee acknowledges that due to Chris unselfish act, he is alive today. Way to go Chris!
