City of Cape Town has cut the Budget for the Provision of Security - TopicsExpress

City of Cape Town has cut the Budget for the Provision of Security at Sport and Recreation facilities. This has now forced Managers of these facilities to only procure security during the night and no security for the facilities during the day at all. Many of these sporting facilities have no security at all and this has led to a number of break-ins and vandalisation of sporting facilities that we have spent Millions on. It is alleged that it could be that the City, DA, is trying to get to a point where these facilities are Vandalised so much that the City would have an excuse to sell and Privatise them. As their plan is to let private institutions run these facilities on permanent basis. So I somehow managed to get Cape Town officials to declare how much they pay security companies per security guard . They confirmed that they Pay R8,000 per security per month, yet that security guard earns R2,800. Sad country Indeed. Why can the City, Government, not employ its own securities and pay them R5,000 a month, they would still save R3,000. To hell with the ANC and DA. My biggest challange is that I serve a District with fellow members that are still entrenched in the old fashioned way of seperating politics from sport, yet the politicians are the ones that dictate over policy and all other administrative matters in sport. From October there is a possibility that I might be part of another District, one that is dominated by blacks and Im sure that there, my methods of politicizing Sports Adminsitration will be welcomed with warm hands. And this might be the start of a new Protest culture in sports.
