City of Seattle bought the largest-diameter tunneling machine in the world, and drove it about 1000 feet through the muck and sand, directly under downtown buildings. Then realizing that the amount of muck and sand they were pulling out of the earth was about twice the diameter of the tunneling machine they knew they were undermining buildings. So there it sits. Stopped. I wonder if it was a plot to do urban renewal.
