Civil Rights Veteran Kaufer presents ‘Martin Luther King and the Spirit of the ‘60s’ Please join us from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 31 as we host Lanny Kaufer, a member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee of Ventura County. He will be sharing his experiences during the Civil Rights Movement when he met Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and joined Dr. King’s SCOPE Project (Summer Community Organization and Political Education), a Southern Christian Leadership Conference program designed to educate, organize, and register voters in the South just as the Voting Rights Act was passed.
