Civil and Equal Rights are important to me. I wrote this song about the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The Freedom Riders rode across the country to challenge the non-enforcement of desegregation. Latinos were also encouraged to come to the US through the Immigration Act of 1965. The hardships many people of all nationalities faced included: low-paying unskilled jobs, fighting for education and facing discrimination. The fight for justice was a difficult journey. We still face injustices today, some fifty plus years later. We should treat everyone with respect and dignity. As Ellen Degeneres would say, Be kind to one another. I hope this song will cause you to reflect on what our forefathers and mothers did to pave the way and inspire you to make a difference. It starts with me and you! Big love, Catie All the footage in this video is actual footage from the 1960s. #1961 #CatieWaters #Freedom #StoneChild #EllenDegeneres #CivilRights
