Claremont and Area Towns Honored Jonathan Today Throughout The Evening.. Hundreds upon hundreds,of citizens from Claremont and surrounding communities, some who knew Jon and others who did not but wanted to support the family in some way, stood in long lines to do just that.for the Celebration of Life held at Stringers Funeral Home, from four this afternoon throughout the evening. By Eight P.M. , a good friend of Jonnys opened the service with a song dedicated to his memory and brought the crowd of mourners to tears. It was so wonderful to hear memories from Jonathans Step-Dad ,,,His love for the boy was so obvious, as well as a deep respect for him.Jonathan had often shared with many of his teachers, his deep love of family, always mentioning them in such a loving manner. A lot of laughter. ensued as many stood and shared comical events with those in the filled - to -capacity room . The outer rooms held the overflow of those who could not be seated in the main room, but were able to hear very well. as many stood to share a memory. A Television monitor dis[played a continuous showing of pictures, from baby hood to the current days. Plus the wall was lined with photographs I myself spoke of the wonderful personality and wisdom that Jon possessed when I had him for two years while substituting , mainly at the Tech Center in plumbing and Machinery classes. As they stood at the alter, two of his female fellow students cried as they spoke of the respect he had for girls, . that he was one who always was kind to them. Also, how he was voted Student of the Year last year, along with the notable expertise he had in the field of machinery. Scott Pope had mentioned this earlier to me, on line , and to his family and others, and that he would be a senior with the most potential in his class. I have never seen such a display of beautiful flowers.Many were seen in unusual settings and shapes, such as images of Foxes set within a bed of red and yellow flowers... Another entire room was dedicated with hundreds of pictures that Jon himself created and saved over the years. His younger sister shared some poignant moments experienced between the two of them..and even the baby sister that Jonny loved so much participated !! Young Taylor Melchercame forth, describing in a very emotional , but beautiful spontaneous speech , of how much Jon thought of her, always trying to date her in spite of her attempts to ignore him... and how placing flowers in front of her in front of a current boyfriend. was an effort to distract him how she treasured the memory of their friendship, sharing the fact that she was privileged to be his date for the prom. Hunter Ward as well as his other friends, was a wonderful speaker, also...describing how they met, and how deep and meaningful the friendship became, and how it would last for the rest of his life. Jonnys Pepe had a special message for the teen-aged friends, to make every day count, and demonstrate the kindness to one another that Jon did. Following that service, another was held at the Elks, with refreshments ...
