Clarion University Releases Workforce Plan Like many public colleges and universities across the country, Clarion University has seen it its funding decline (18% since 2010). This decrease is a result of reductions in state appropriations and decreased enrollment over a several year period. The decrease in funding, coupled with increasing expense, has created a structural deficit which, if not addressed, is projected to grow to $12 million by July 1, 2015. As you may have heard, on Thursday, August 15th, Clarion University released an ambitious, a two-year workforce plan designed to help ensure that it achieves its mission, vision and strategic goals, while addressing the structural deficit. According to David Love, director of marketing and communication, “The actions presented in the plan will result in a Clarion University that by July 1, 2015 is positioned for the future and able to continue serving students, employers and community partners as a public university. At the forefront of this plan is student success in terms of our determination as a public university for our students to graduate and succeed in their careers beyond the classroom thanks to the marketable skills they learn at Clarion.” He continued, “No action in this plan will impact current Clarion University students. This plan clearly aligns our university investments of time, energy and other resources to our strategic directions.” A copy of the plan can be accessed by visiting: clarion.edu/workforceplan Additionally, the answers to frequently asked questions regarding the workforce plan can be found by visiting: clarion.edu/workforceplanFAQs
