His talk about the difference between house negroes and field negroes is allegorical, in that most house negroes were catching as much hell as the field negroes. In fact, it may have been worse for those inside the proverbial, because they experienced more intimate forms of abuse and terror in addition to what field negroes suffered. The historical truth is that, it was usually the house negroes who alerted their brethren in the fields, of the masters whereabouts and plans. It was they who plotted most of the rebellion because they knew everything about the white folks and their household. While there may have been an odd individual or two, so struck with stockholm syndrome that they cared for their masters more than themselves, that was NOT the case for most so-called, house negroes. What human being enjoys being raped regularly by the men of the house and then brutalized by a jealous mistress? What human being likes leaving their own children to be raised outside while they care for massas children?
