Classic Rock News 7/1/14 1. An Idaho man was detained by police for mentioning the band Nickelback. Police overhead a conversation between two gentlemen and apparently thought that one of them said “nickel sack,” which they thought was a pot reference. (antimusic) 2. Bassist Duff McKagan says that he would consider fronting Velvet Revolver himself, but would rather the band bring in a specialized singer. They’ve been without a singer since Scott Weiland left in 2008. (antimusic) 3. The Who have confirmed that they will record a new album this summer. Pete Townshend says that he has written three new songs so far that have met with the approval of Roger Daltrey. With a tour set to follow, this will be the band’s first album since 2006’s ‘Endless Wire.’ (ultimateclassicrock)
