Classmates, I hope this note finds you all well and healthy as we - TopicsExpress

Classmates, I hope this note finds you all well and healthy as we approach the summer months. I wanted to send out a quick note to acknowledge what seems to be growing interest, excitement and yes, confusion about the Class of 1985’s next Class Reunion. I know this, because several of you have called or emailed me over the past few weeks seeking information and clarity on some things. Hopefully, this note will serve that purpose. As most of you know, some of our classmates are moving forward with plans to have a 29th Class Reunion. I have spoken to some of them, who have informed me that their plan was to have a dinner and gathering of mostly people still residing in the Rocky Mount area. While this is an amazing idea and a great chance for people to get together, this is NOT our official class reunion. Again for those of you wondering, there will NOT be an official class reunion in 2014. Many of you, after our highly successful class reunion in 2010, charged Pam Sewell, and the committee she formed then, with planning a 30th Reunion in 2015. That is what you said you wanted in 2010 and that is what we are planning on. This in no way diminishes what the local group is doing and hopefully I can make their event. But in the interest of keeping our promises, your expectations and most importantly, proper planning, we are still going forward with plans for 2015. Barring any objections, Pam has agreed to head up our efforts again and I am proud to assist her. If you remember the timetable for the 25th, we held it Sept 11, 2010. We started actively planning in Sept. 2009, which is when we started posting profiles, creating the website and finding lost addresses. That is the model we plan to use for 2015. In fact, Pam and I are already having preliminary discussions and she has started to ask for more volunteers, although anybody interested in helping can join. Finally, we are all active in social media and maintain strong contacts in Rocky Mount. We have all seen how other classes have handled class reunions. And all of us who attended saw how well-run, well-attended and fun ours was. That happened because of planning, proper feedback and buy-in from every member of our class, whether they still lived in Rocky Mount or across the world. Our class has always been special and we deserve a great reunion. With your help, we will have one. If anyone is interested in serving on a committee, please let me or Pam know. And if anyone has any thoughts on this message or upcoming events, I welcome the discussion. Yours in service Ernie Suggs, Class of 1985
