Claudette, my African Clawed Frog, has been gaining weight recently. I have finally figured out that she is not getting fat but has a disease called Bloat or Dropsy. I am familiar with the term dropsy. In past generations it referred to what we would call edema today, and, in humans, it is often caused by cardiac, renal or liver failure. In frogs it is caused by infection so I have to put an antibiotic called Maroxy in her tank. This has been a rough year for my pets. First my cat vanishes, then my dog gets arthritis, and now this.
