Claudia shares: Help me... My son who is 3 and is ASD used to have no trouble falling asleep in our home in his own room, it was the waking up that was a huge problem. Recently we have moved permanently to my mums even though we had already been staying overnight for half a week at a time since he was 1 due to work commitments. He screams and screams and says he doesnt want to go to sleep now and that he is sick in his bed and wants to sleep with me in my bed which is in the same room. I refuse and he gets himself so worked up that he vomits and start hand flapping and hyperventilating. On the very rare occasion that I go out I can guarantee he will still be awake when I arrive even past 11pm, he just holds on. He waits for me to physically be in my bed. Every night he does this now and I Dnt know what to do anymore. I dont want to give in because that is not helping him but at the same time am I just feeding his anxiety. What do I do?? Carry on or give in and have him dictate my bed times? The only time I ever get time to myself is once he has gone to bed and at the moment Im so shattered I dont even get that. Tonight he fell asleep at 11pm. We have to get up at 6am. Im dreading the morning, every morning. Sorry for the ranting. This is my only outlet.
