Claudio Arrau was a legendary master pianist born in Chile in 1903. He is one of the finest pianists to have ever lived. His performances of the great classics have no equal. We are sharing his legendary performance at the age of 84 of Beethovens 5th Piano Concerto, also known as the Emperor Concerto. Claudio was a child prodigy who was introduced to piano by his amateur pianist mother. As Claudios father died when he was one year old, his mother gave piano lessons to support the family. Claudio was allowed to sit in on the lessons as a very small child so that mother could keep an eye on him. As a result, Claudio could read music before he could read words.
