Clean air is healthy for the economy. Critics of reducing greenhouse gas pollution from coal-fired power plants frequently claim that regulations will cost consumers. A new MIT study concludes the opposite: That medical bills will drop, saving consumers money, as burning less coal produces less particulate pollution that triggers heart and asthma attacks. The MIT researchers found the Obama Administrations proposed rules to cut carbon dioxide emissions from power plants would cost $208 billion, but would reduce health costs to the tune of $247 billion.
