Cleaning Tip- How to clean an electric kettle First remove the power cord plug from the wall. You could be seriously hurt if you try to wash your kettle with it still plugged into the power outlet. Empty all water out of the kettle and allow it to cool off if still hot. Adding water to an already hot kettle may cause irreparable damage. Once it has cooled, fill the kettle about halfway with warm water. Add a quarter cup of white vinegar to the water and mix. Let the water sit for 10 to 20 minutes. After the water/vinegar mix has been in the kettle for 10-20 minutes, use a scouring pad to gently remove any remaining deposits. Any remaining scale or calcium deposits should be softened by the vinegar/water mix and should be easy to remove. Do not scrub too hard on the heating element, as this has a special coating to protect it. Pour out the vinegar/water mix and rinse your kettle with cold water. Clean the outside of the kettle as needed, be careful not to scratch the finish. Allow the kettle to dry completely before using it again. Take special care to ensure all water has dried from the electrical connectors on the base.
