Clearly, foundational principles of the Onkwehonwe provide for inclusion and extending human rights to all people. The adoption of the individual, a family, or whole clan-nations created stable social change among the People. The adoption system in Indigenous Society included covenants by all parties for mutual accountability, mutual obligation, and mutual responsibility. Everyone answered to someone and were under the authority of someone. The name hung around the neck could be revoked if the covenant was broken. The rejection of the adoption practice suggests that in the modern era no one wants to answer to anyone. Hence, we are not accountable to each other in our wolf-eat-wolf world. --Thohahoken
