Clearwater Golf Club secured a place in the 2014 John Deere Trans - TopicsExpress

Clearwater Golf Club secured a place in the 2014 John Deere Trans Tasman Team Championship finals in September 2014 after a splendid day at Weedons Golf Club organised by Drummond & Etheridge, the South Island John Deere agent. In a day that started with the Clearwater team heading to Ashburton Golf Club by mistake and then making the quick return trip to Weedons the Clearwater team (Andrew Bell, Sam Langrope and Jackson Joseph) played steady but unspectacular golf in the company of the team from Tinwald Golf Club. Unsurprisingly the team did not feature in the top placegetters (a shot outside the required score) with the event won by our neighbours from Harewood Golf Club (13 under par) by a tiny margin over Cromwell Golf Club. As luck would have it the format this year meant the winning team and one other team drawn from all contestants (30 clubs) make the final as the South Islands representatives. As chance would have lucky number 7 was drawn - and yes that means the Clearwater team have won a trip to Lakelands in Queensland to chase the title. Thanks to John Deere and D&E.
