He was one if not the best basketball player Id ever watched play the game!! He pinned my first 3 shots i took to the hoop against the backboard my senior year!! That was just in the first quarter!!!!!!! Where Im from Skip is a legend!!! At Marshall Skip was a legend!!!! Yes he made some horrible mistakes in life! Havent we all and who are we to judge!! He brought a lot of joy and excitement in to peoples lives with his talent!!! His skill was amazing!! But for the select few who knew him personnaly and grew up with him!!! We called him friend, and that he was. a great friend!!! I was jumped on one night in the top gym in my hometown by some guys from the team Skip was playing on!! I had waxed em for for 30 and they werent happy!!!! When they all ganged up on me it was Skip that said , you F,,, with him you F,, with me! Thats the skip I remember!!! There were no smile bigger or brighter than that of my friend Skip Henderson!!!! That left hand was a gift from God that taught many ball players a lesson time after time!! I love going home to my hometown of Cartersville! I like seeing my friends Keith Henderson Greg Oconnor , David Archer Jr Keith Godfrey etc etc!! We always relive the past. We relive our so called glory years!!!! I dont think any of us ever tells a story of our childhood in sports that Skips name doesnt come up!!! Why you ask??? Because he was the greatest of all time where were from! We wanted to be like him. We wanted to shoot left handed like him!!! We wanted to talk like him!! why because he was the greatest basketball player we ever knew! Its hard to believe I now work a few blocks from where Skip made magic happen at Marshall University!! Sometimes I ride by and listen for his name! I listen for the chant,, Skip Skip Skip.. I want to see that smile light up the henderson center! I want to see that pigeon toed left handed genius light UTC up for 42!! I want to see that jersey hang from the rafters!!!! I know those days are long gone!!! But the memories you created for people like me from our hometown and the memories you created for Marshall university In Huntington West Virginia will always be remembered!! Im going to see Skip one day down in South Ga!!! I want to tell him thanks for the memories!!!! I or any of us should not judge Skip for his past unless you can offer up a heaven or a hell so we will leave that in Gods hands!!! JUDD
