He did so in a most vicious manner and in the act, left a trail so factually and materially obvious, he might as well have confessed to the heinous crime and begged for the Court’s mercy. But OJ walked because a jury, composed of the confused, the dense and the disbelieving, found him innocent. George Zimmerman has claimed that when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, he did so in self-defense during a physical altercation with Mr. Martin. The victims of OJ were white. Mr. Martin was black. While we await the coming verdict on the matter of State of Florida versus Zimmerman, threats on Mr. Zimmerman’s life are filling Twitter accounts. Further, a number of Elected Officials, by word or the suggestion of thought, have primed the pump for violence if Mr. Zimmerman walks. No such threats, no such priming, came before OJ, as guilty as the day is long, walked. If both cases were about race, the only case that draws threats against one killer, are those against Mr. Zimmerman. And yet, neither case was about race. OJ, it would appear, was suddenly enraged, perhaps by jealousy. Zimmerman, if he is to be believed, defended himself. Why is one case racism, as so many were quick to declare, while the other was never labeled as such? Why do many Liberals and much of the black community see them in a different light? Is it the color of the victim and the color of the perpetrator that determines a stated goal, desire, plan to riot, to if possible, kill Mr. Zimmerman? And if that be the case, isn’t selective outrage nothing more than racism itself? It would be helpful if for a change, the usual race hustling whores like Sharpton, Jackson and Obama, would sternly and without ambiguity, call on all to remain calm and respectful of law, life and property when the verdict is rendered.
