Clerk Chases Car When Patron Fails To Pay For Gas A clerk at a Lawrenceburg convenience store reported to law enforcement officials Friday that she ran after a car when the driver failed to pay for gasoline, but to no avail. The clerk, an employee of Kay’s Country Store, 1905 West Gaines Street, reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that around 6:45 a.m. a driver pumped $39.87 worth of gasoline, then pulled out of the parking lot without paying. The clerk told officers that she ran after the vehicle and that she “banged on the window and yelled” when the driver stopped at the adjacent traffic light. She said the driver refused to respond and continued to drive away. The clerk was able to provide a Davidson County license plate number and a description of the car. She reported that the driver was white male in his 30s. At the time of the incident he was wearing black scrubs. Investigation into the crime is continuing currently through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. LawrenceburgNow
