Cleveland, Ohio - Addie is trying to raise money for the shelter. Please donate if you can. Thank you My name is Addie Broach and I am an animal advocate. My current concerns regard the Cleveland Kennel. Let me take the opportunity to let you know what is happening at the Cleveland Kennel from my perspective. A good friend of mine and I approached then President of Cleveland City Council, Martin Sweeney, after the council meeting on Monday, October 28, 2013. My concerns were concentrated on the dilapidated conditions at the kennel and the enormous amount of dogs killed at the kennel during 2013. At the end of the year, that number stood at or near 1000 dogs. Mr. Sweeney and Councilor Jay Westbrook met with us briefly at the end of the meeting. We were told money was allocated for a new kennel; however, the new kennel groundbreaking has yet to be announced. Mr. Westbrook stated he didn’t think it would be started until 2016. When we spoke of the archaic conditions at the kennel and the outdated ventilation system, we were told it would take approximately $12,000.00 to replace. Needless to say, they were both in agreement that if we could raise the funds for the replacement of the ventilation system, we could donate this to the kennel. I have witnessed an owner coming to reclaim a dog that had been Put To Sleep(PTS) prior to the owner’s arrival. I have witnessed dogs never being taken out of their cage and being sprayed with a hose to clean the cage. I have witnessed the same hose being used to “fill” a water bowl instead of the bowl being scrubbed out. I have witnessed plenty of empty cages while dogs are being “euthanized” in the back room. I have witnessed employees of the kennel not being able to find a dog in the kennel and morbidly stating “it must have been put to sleep and this is not all that is going on.” In order to start accumulating the desired funds to donate to the Cleveland Kennel, we had a bowling banquet Nov.11, 2013 and raised $1000.00. The next fundraiser will be with Mr. Diamond at Landerhaven. Mr. Diamond has been gracious enough to donate the hall, the food, the drinks and an additional $500.00. Mr. Diamond has one stipulation. I need to get a minimum guarantee of 15 to 20 people to donate $250.00 or $500.00 for this event. 100% of the money raised will go to fixing the ventilation system and other priorities at the Cleveland Kennel. I am asking for you to donate $250.00 or $500.00 for this fundraiser. Im asking for your help in ending the way our sheltered animals are being killed. I would like to ask your help It would be awesome if I could get 30 people to commit 150.00 If more come thats great to. I will also send you 2 tickets to the fundraiser that will be with Mr. Diamond at Landerhaven. The City of Cleveland has money for a football stadium but no money to help these dogs. A stadium is one thing but we are talking about lives, living beings who are scared and defenseless. The Cleveland Kennel needs to become NO KILL. PLEASE HELP THESE DOGS! THEY HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH! All checks can be made out to: Precious Paws at the Cleveland Kennel, P.O.Box 21285, South Euclid, Ohio 44121 I can show you more pic but I think you can see, these dogs are dying because of the condition of this kennel. Please help me to help them. If we dont help them who will? if you have any questions or would like more information on this matter please feel free to call me 216-205-2647 Thank You The Precious Paws at Cleveland Kennel 501c3 Addie Broach
