Clever chaps, you lot. Its a very different Eunos indeed: imported from Japan by us recently, this started life as a 1992 Pit Crew Eunos 1.6. Now Pit Crew are a small Japanese custom car company situated near the Suzuka F1 circuit and they have been around pretty well since the introduction of the Eunos. They offer conversions which give your Eunos or MX5 a real retro feel. I hesitate to use the phrase bodykit as they are so much more than that with quality second to none. We have since added a few modifications of our own to make the car truly individual. So while it has a Pit Crew rear end, it has a Work rear bumper, a Zoom Elan front bumper, a Garage Vary vented bonnet, Tuckin 99 small wheel arch extensions and Vitaloni door mirrors as usually found on the M2 1028 models. We then had the whole car resprayed in Excellent Green Mica. Paintwork finish is just excellent and the car looks quite stunning. The lads at AK Automotive spent a huge amount of time and effort (and money) getting this one just right. One of our criteria is that we wanted this one to drive really well too (a lot of modified cars are just horrible to drive). In fact weve now ended up with a car that drives way better than we had ever hoped. The engine has been re-worked by a (unknown) Japanese tuner and has a ported & polished and skimmed head, a Toda lightweight flywheel, an Excedy clutch, a HKS 4-2-1 Manifold and HKS stainless centre section mated to an AK Automotive custom centre exit rear box. Performance is some way better than standard (quicker than a good 1.8) and mid-range acceleration is particularly impressive. The custom exhaust was carefully designed not just to help with performance, but to sound the part too. Oil pressure is excellent and it holds it temperature perfectly, while the clutch, gearbox and brakes are all just right. Underneath, its fitted with Tein height and damping adjustable coilovers and handling is just superb. All suspension components are lovely and clean and everything is in sound order. As you can see, it also has SSR Mesh alloy wheels which fill the arches perfectly. Obviously there is no rust anywhere. The underside is superbly clean too (thanks to spending its life so far on Japans salt-free roads. Its covered just 97956km which is around 61000 miles. We have serviced the car properly and have given it a new MOT. Its now UK registered and is ready to be used and enjoyed. The interior is still relatively standard (we really had given our budget a good kicking by this stage!). It has a lovely Nardi leather rimmed steering wheel along with black cloth seats and black carpets and we have fitted a decent Kenwood CD player. It has electric windows, air conditioning, power steering and polished stainless steel sill tread plates. Its a complete one-off and really does look and drive fantastically well. To build your own car to this specification would take a small fortune and a huge amount of work. Having covered a good few miles in this one, Im more than seriously impressed with it. As its currently tucked up in my garage, I get to see this car ever day and Im just a moment of madness away from buying this myself. Id therefore be grateful if someone would just give me our asking price of £5995 for it, take it away and save me from myself (again). Lots more photos on my website: goodwoodsportscars.co.uk
