Clichés Just between you, me and the gatepost, I can take the rough with the smooth, except when someone decides to throw a spanner in the works. Then I throw caution to the winds, knuckle under and see it through to the bitter end. I don’t count my chickens before they’re hatched and its it’s not over till the fat lady sings but if you don’t stick your neck out and bite the bullet sometimes and put your job on the line then you’ll never become a pillar of the community. When you come up against a conspiracy of silence, it’s best to cover your tracks, run the gauntlet and see it through to the bitter end. It may well be the straw that broke the camel’s back but sooner or later when you’re in the thick of it and the tension makes your hair stand on end it may be better to let sleeping dogs lie, hang in there and see if you can see that light at the end of the tunnel. If you got up on the wrong side of the bed, gird your loins, go by the board and jump at the chance to let it all hang out dressed to the nines. Give them the red carpet treatment, pretend to be open and aboveboard, speak off the cuff and tell them it will sell like hot cakes. When you are on the carpet, muddy the water and say it’s much ado about nothing. You are as honest as the day is long and tell them that money doesn’t grow on trees, talk your ear off and tell them time and time again that everything is up to scratch. You’ll soon be back in the saddle and all’s well that ends well.
