Tell us about your business. What inspired you to start your business? How is your business successful? What makes it unique? Physician Billers Inc. is a family owned, Multi-Specialty physician practice management service located in Crown Point, IN. My inspiration came while I employed as a managed care coordinator. My job consisted of coordinating healthcare. It was this point in my career I realized that many health dollars were being wasted with repeat tests, or failed appts. and inadequate billing practices. I decided to further my education so I could bring change in small practices while educating patients. How is your business involved with the community you serve? Physician Billers, Inc has been involved with the community mainly via telephone at this point. Every patient call we take - we not only answer our patients questions; but we explain their healthcare benefits. We may suggest a change in their health care plan, or take the time to explain ACA, aka Obamacare. We explain why their insurance may not be covering their testing; we educate them on the importance of preventative healthcare. Empowering patients with information is a healthy choice! What would a $250,000 grant mean to your business and how will you utilize the funds to ensure long-term growth and stability? A grant at this point would allow us to invest in more technology and space to expand our business. Current leasing is at 26,000.00 a yr. A purchase would free this revenue to host town hall style meetings for physicians and patients. We would assist small physician practices to maximize their profitability. It would allow us to expand education to our community on maximizing their healthcare. We would focus on Senior citizens, educating on Medicare Advantage health and prescription plans. What challenges can you identify for your business, and how do you plan to overcome them? Our biggest challenge has been space. We started in the lower level of our home. Since that we have moved; not once, not twice but three times for more square footage. Word of mouth advertising - has brought our business solid clients at a steady pace. Experienced employees was recently a problem. We partnered with 2 local colleges. Upon completion of administrative asst/ or medical asst. program we are a site for internships. We will hire or place them with one of our clients. Describe the talent and skill of your employees, and how they contribute to a successful business. Our employees are everything - the backbone of the business. Our talent comes in many forms. Some employees are tech savy, while others possess excellent communication skills. We are truly a team whom raise each other. They are dedicated, always presenting on time, everyday. These factors contribute to a successful business. We care about each other, each others families, our clients, their staff, but most of all our patients. Our PBI team delivers 100% driven by self motivation. HEALTHCARE IS OUR BUSINESS !!!!!
