CURTAIN CALL ALBERTA BALLET E-NEWS Introducing Alberta Ballet II Meet the dancers of Canadas newest program for emerging ballet talent Alberta Ballet II officially launches today as the School of Alberta Ballets newest initiative, and we are very exciting to introduce you to the artists who will be a part of this program. Led by Director Aram Manukyan, Alberta Ballet II will form an integral part of Alberta Ballets education and outreach programs - touring and performing for over 10,000 Albertans in 2014-2015. Alberta Ballet II is designed to bridge the gap between school and a professional career in ballet and you will see these dancers in Don Quixote, The Three Musketeers, and The Nutcracker this year in Calgary and Edmonton! Audrey Becker Coming from France, Audrey is thrilled to be joining Alberta Ballet II for the 2014-2015 Season. She has trained with the Regional Conservatory of Boulogne-Billancourt and the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris (CNSMDP). She has studied under Dominique Franchetti, Christa Charmolu, Céline Talon, Claude de Vulpian, and Jean-Marie Didière. While at the CNSMDP, she loved performing the role of Eurydice in Jocelyn Bossers Orphée and Eurydice and the role of the Principal Nymph in Nijinskys Afternoon of a Faun at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris. Hank DeMarco Hank started ballet late at the age of 18 in his hometown of Edmonton, and has since moved on to the School Of Alberta Ballet. He has had the opportunity to work with Alberta Ballet in the productions of Madame Butterfly and Giselle, and is very excited to work closer with the company for the inaugural season of Alberta Ballet II. Dash Grundy Born and raised in Toronto, Dash studied at Canadas National Ballet School for seven years, and graduated in 2014. He trained under Sergiu Stefanschi and has danced multiple roles over the years in James Kudelkas The Nutcracker, including Misha. He is excited to be part of the inaugural season of Alberta Ballet ll. Seira Iwamoto Seira began her ballet training in Fukuoka, Japan. In 2011 she came to the School of Alberta Ballet to train under Nancy and Murray Kilgour, and after training for two years at the Dutch National Ballet Academy, she is happy to be back in Calgary to join Alberta Ballet Ⅱ. She has appeared as one of the corps swans in Kirk Petersons Swan Lake with Alberta Ballet. Makiko Sutani Makiko was born in Osaka, Japan, and began her ballet training at Homura Tomoi Ballet School at the age of six. She also trained at the Washington School of Ballet from 2010-2012 under the direction of Kee Juan Han. She danced at the Milwaukee Ballet Ⅱ for two seasons before joining Alberta Ballet Ⅱ this season. Heather Thomson Heather is excited to be joining Alberta Ballet II for her first season. Born and raised in Calgary, she has studied at the School of Alberta Ballet for four years, while performing in the companys productions of Madame Butterfly and Nutcracker. Her favourite ballets include Giselle, Don Quixote, and Petite Mort. Rachel Thomson Rachel was born and raised in Calgary. She received her first years of training at Ballet Arts Centre and has furthered her training at the School of Alberta Ballet for the past four years. Last season, Rachel performed in Madame Butterfly, The Nutcracker, and Giselle with Alberta Ballet. Aoba Yanai Aoba began her training in Tokyo Japan. She came to Canada to study at the School of Alberta Ballet when she was nineteen. She has danced in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Giselle with Alberta Ballet as a student of the School of Alberta Ballet.
