A debate was immediately called following this announcement as many Members of Parliament have constituents who are employed by Rolls Royce and want to ensure that they can protect their workers. Here in Hucknall I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that our highly skilled workforce stays. I met with staff and unions just a few weeks ago and have been writing to the Chief Executive to gain assurances that all options will be considered and that the views of the workforce will be taken on board before any decisions are finalised. I will continue to lobby the government about the use of Local Enterprise Partnerships such as D2N2 in helping to keep valuable businesses operating through difficult times.
