Client: “OH NO! I had been working out my carbs all wrong! I had been using the raw macros for my sweet potato, even tho I had been baking in the oven, then weighing it and I’ve only just realised that I’ve been taking in 80g of extra carbs, every day! The last month of dieting has all gone to waste! ARGH!” Iron Curtis: “You have still been losing weight at our target rate of 500g per week tho right?” Client: “Yeah, but…” Iron Curtis: “BUT NOTHING! That’s great! You are doing better than we thought then. If you can lose weight eating more carbs than we thought you were on, then we just have more room to move and greater capacity to lose weight going forward. It’s a good thing!” Client: “But I have been eating 80g of carbs over my target!?” Iron Curtis: “Whatever your exact calorie intake has been, we don’t really care, it is just a number. What we do care about is how that calorie intake has been effecting your body composition and you have been dropping weight at 500g/week, which is exactly what our target was to get you looking the way you want, by the date we planned on. So you get to continue eating those extra 80g of carbs per day… for now anyway!”
