Climate change denialists famously slipstreamed anthropogenic global chaotic climate change by saying urban heat islands were the cause of increased temperature readings skewing the numbers so much: so it doesnt exist. This is the main reason political operatives are notoriously bad theorists and misreport/misrepresent/misinterpret scientific principles. Robert Muller exposed this fallacy a few years ago and even though the denialists said they accept the reality of AGCCC if Muller corroborated it: they didnt and lied. They had no intention what so ever to change their views and SURPISE! they havent. The important thing about taking readings over time is not to confirm or deny any particular point of view in the moment but to gather diffuse data that shows change trends over time.
