Climate change is not just about the science but it is very much - TopicsExpress

Climate change is not just about the science but it is very much about basic human rights and this affects all of us whether it’s creating jobs or it’s the lifestyle that we want to build for ourselves. Many people are more concerned about social services like good school for education and a health clinic yet they do not realise that the uncertainties associated with climate change puts them at a risk of not having these services if climate change is not addressed well. We need to impact the decision makers to haste the process of implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The YLC wants to get the youth to be involved in these issues and to understand the links between Climate Change and their daily lives. Hence, the YLC is holding an Exchange Dialogue on SDGs and Climate Change. At the event, YLC will elaborate on sustainable development goals as one of the measures in which youth involvement could map our way to a better future where leaders are held accountable to their promises of intergenerational equity. Now, we urge youth to join us in this dialogue that we have arranged in Langa, Cape Town on 22 Nov 2014. We aim to mobilise, educate and inspire young people to stand up for their generational rights in order to safeguard their future through empowerment. Our goal is to sustain the enthusiasm of activists from all walks of life. In order to achieve this we will: -address what are climate change and sustainable development goals -address why climate change is such an important issue to South African context (Inc. Global) and why activists should be involved -establish the links between climate change, sustainable development goals and social justice issues -mobilise the youths to be actively involved in the governance of climate change -establish the process of holding the leaders accountable to deliver on the constitutional demands of a sustainable future for South Africa. The exchange will provide an environment that connects young leaders to thought leaders and experts and broadens their network of interest and influence. We have invited speakers and youth to engage meaningfully on this day and unpack some of the risks, challenges and opportunities presented to us due to climate change and how we can influence development for a sustainable future. We look forward to having you and you may RSVP by sending an email to blessing@90×2030.org.za If you would like to know what else to expect from on Exchange, check out this video from our partner Activate! Change Drivers.
