😷💊💉🏥Clinic Policies 🏥💉💊😷 Test Results Results of blood work and other tests will not be given over the phone due to strict patient confidentiality. We encourage you to call and book a routine appointment to discuss your test results. In our busy health care system, test results can be misplaced. To provide safe and comprehensive medical care we advise patients to follow up with the administrative staff to ensure your test results have been received. We reiterate the office staff cannot discuss any test results with you. Appointments All visits are by appointment only. Not all medical issues require the same amount of time. To ensure sufficient time and means are allotted to meet your needs, we ask that when you make an appointment you advise the receptionist of the reason for your visit. This provides the Doctors the opportunity to stay on time and reduce patients wait time in the office. Drs. Young and Power provide a service shared by all the patients of this practice and community. As such, we anticipate a 2-4 week wait for routine visits. However, we have reserved time for same day urgent appointments and for recalls. We hope this will allow you to see us when you are ill or if there are other time sensitive issues. Urgent / Same Day Appointments We will attempt to see you as soon as possible if you are ill. For this reason, several appointments will be reserved each day for same-day bookings. Please call as early as possible to book same-day appointments. If your medical issues are of a more urgent nature, it is important for you to relay this information to the administrative staff, to ensure you are booked appropriately. Urgent / Same Day Appointments should be reserved for a single medical urgent concern. Patients will be asked to make a follow-up appointment for discussion of other concerns or chronic medical conditions. Missed Appointments / No Shows: If you are unable to attend, PLEASE call the clinic and notify the receptionist at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. This will allow us to book another patient and avoid long waiting lists. If you miss your appointment, without providing 24 hour notice you may be charged a fee of $20 for a missed appointment and $50 for a missed physical. If you miss 3 appointments without cancelling, you may be discharged from the practice. Late Appointments Please note if you are 15 minutes late for your appointment you may be asked to rebook for a later time or date and a fee may apply. Evening Clinic We are providing an evening clinic for patients that have urgent or timely medical issues and find it difficult to make appointments during our routine hours. Evening clinics will generally be held on Wednesdays and are intended for 5-Minute appointments only. This would include: • Prescriptions • Injections • Cough / Cold • Acute Infections • Rash / Skin Issues Prescriptions Prescriptions will not be given without an appointment. You are encouraged to schedule an appointment for prescription refills when you fill your last refill. Unfortunately, there will be no telephone prescriptions. If a detailed medication review is necessary, a dedicated follow up visit will be scheduled. Narcotics / Antibiotics / Sedatives This practice follows evidenced based guidelines for all prescriptions including narcotics, antibiotics, and stress related medications. A written contract will be reviewed and signed with any patients requiring narcotic prescriptions. Failure to comply with all items on the contract will result in the patient being discharged from the practice. Emergency Closures The office will close in extreme weather conditions. We will follow local school board district in this regard. If schools are closed we will be closed. We will update our answering machine and facebook page to notify you of any unexpected closures. Routine Closures We usually close one day every month for continuing medical education. These days will be posted well in advance. Emergent issues require emergent medical service. If you have an emergency please be seen immediately at your local emergency department or call NL Health Line at 1-888-709-2929. Uninsured Services NOT ALL SERVICES ARE COVERED BY MCP!
