Clint is deafened, and now he must communicate through sign-language. That means this issue is mainly, empty word bubbles and signs. Despite this madness, the story is as submersible as any other. Under any other artist it would be a headache to follow the story but this is David Aja were speaking of, and so so it flows seamlessly. Hawkeye #19 manages to tell a powerful story whilst making me genuinely interested in the language. It is a risky premise, because not many people will be interested in learning signs to understand the signed dialogue but its a risk that yields reward, and lets be honest...how often do you read a book for the hearing-impaired? Next time you say Marvel is all about the money remember Hawkeye#19 then shut your filthy mouth!
