Cllr Mans yesterday made the decision to go out to 12wk - TopicsExpress

Cllr Mans yesterday made the decision to go out to 12wk consultation on proposals looking at delivering short breaks for £1m budget (compared to £2.85m currently). This is despite the Children & Young People Select Committee recommending budgets for 2015/16 are protected to allow providers and the voluntary sector enough time to prepare for the inevitable cuts. This will have a devastating effect on services and we know many activities will have to close. HCC are also proposing that they reinstate an eligibility criteria for short breaks though we do not know what this will be. Previously it was attendance at special school or receiving higher rate DLA - something that excludes a high number of children from accessing short breaks and leaves many families vulnerable. We must challenge this decision and ask that you write to your Councillor if you have not already done so. Visit hpcn.org.uk for details of the work we are doing to try to challenge these cuts thank you
