Clouds will be on the increase tonight as a cold front approaches - TopicsExpress

Clouds will be on the increase tonight as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Most of the overnight will be dry, although scattered flurries will be possible. Temperatures will be warmer than recent nights with lows in the teens. Scattered snow showers will become likely Friday morning with a few slick spots possible on area roads. Accumulations, however, will be light with most expected to pick up less than 1/2. Temperatures just ahead of the front will top out in the mid 20s, but expect a cooling trend during the afternoon. Winds are also expected to pick up out of the northwest, with gusts topping 30 mph. Skies will become partly cloudy at night with lows very close to zero. Saturday will start out with plenty of sunshine, but as warmer temperatures begin to push into the region during the afternoon, a few more clouds will drift our way. Daytime temperatures will top out in the mid 20s, but expect little temperature drop at night as warmer conditions continue to push in from the southwest. A more active pattern will take shape Sunday into Monday as a cold front arriving from the northwest interacts with an area of low pressure lifting up the coast. Our skies will become mostly cloudy on Sunday with scattered rain and snow showers possible, especially later in the day. Temperatures ahead of the front will be mild with highs close to 40. The latest computer models have shifted the coastal storm farther east, which would mean less of an impact on the Twin Tiers. Right now were forecasting scattered snow showers into Monday with a return of colder temperatures. If the storm were to track a bit closer to the coast, a light or even moderate accumulation of snow would be possible. Well keep you posted as updated information becomes available. Partly sunny skies are likely on Tuesday followed by more clouds and the chance for a few snow showers on Wednesday. Clouds will linger on Thursday, but were expecting dry conditions.
