Club Nights Update ◊ 24th October – Singers and Musicians’ themed session “Happy Songs!” ◊ 31st October – Mike Silver – Mike makes his latest visit to the club and will doubtless deliver his usual silky performance. If you haven’t seen Mike before be assured you are guaranteed a great evening with a superb songwriter, singer and musician! With a lifetime of professional music behind him, plus a busy on-going concert, song-writing and recording schedule, Mike continues to perform throughout the UK, Europe and America, captivating audiences with songs of insight, experience - and accurate observation of our all-too-vulnerable human condition. ◊ 7th November – Anna Massie and Mairearad Green – ticketed night! On Anna Massie - Equally at home as accompanist or melody player, and highly sought after as both, Anna Massie is one of Scotland’s foremost guitarists. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, she also excels on the fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo. As well as being a member of Blazin’ Fiddles, working in a duo with the fantastic Mairearad Green and regularly collaborating with Bella Hardy, the past few years have seen her perform with her own band, Kate Rusby, Karen Matheson, Capercaillie and Eddi Reader. Three time nominee for Best Instrumentalist at the Scots Trad Music Awards (2005, 2008 and 2010), she is a talented musician and “another wonderful example of how youth embraces and refreshes traditional culture. Excellent. On Mairearad Green - Having grown up in the West Coast Coigach peninsula of the Scottish Highlands – an area steeped in culture and local traditions – Mairearad was introduced to folk music at an early age. Renowned for her deft and lyrical accordion style, as well as her dextrous piping, Mairearad is in great demand not only as a performer, but also as a composer. Mairearad regularly performs alongside multi-instrumentalist Anna Massie, creating “music much more than the sum of just two parts” (The Scotsman) whilst she is also a member of “the UK’s finest all-female outfit” The Poozies. She has previously toured with Eddi Reader, Karine Polwart, The Unusual Suspects, Box Club, and Matilda Brown’s ensemble, and her most recent project sees her joining forces with fellow tunesmiths Ross Ainslie and Simon Bradley ◊ 14th November - Singers and Musicians’ session General announcements Many thanks for all the raffle donations!
