Club Notes for this week, 19th January. Juvenile AGM. The Juvenile AGM takes place this Friday evening at 8pm in the clubhouse, all welcome to attend. If there’s anyone new to the town of Callan, and are interested in becoming involved in the juvenile section of the club they can contact the juvenile secretary, Robert Jackman (086-8222717) or speak with any of the committee on Friday night. Child Welfare Meeting. A Child Welfare meeting will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday 28th January. The talk will be given by Conor Brennan (Child Welfare Officer, Kilkenny County Board). It is important that all committee members and mentors involved with any underage teams attend this meeting. Junior Football Team. Once again the Locke’s have entered a team in the Kilkenny Junior Football league under the management of Bosco Bryan and his selectors. Anyone interested in kicking the big ball are more than welcome to train, and can contact Bosco Bryan for training and match schedules In 2010/2011 the Locke’s contested the county junior football final, losing out to Ballyragget, who now play at senior level in Kilkenny. With a little coaching and guidance, the club could taste success with the big ball once more. First league game will take place in mid-February. Tag Football. The social sport of Tag Football will recommence in the Astro Complex, this Thursday from 8-10pm. Having run a successful league before Christmas, it was decided to try the ‘Pay and Play’ format this time round. Depending on numbers each Thursday, 7 aside games will start at 8pm, 8.45pm and 9.30pm each Thursday night. Names, and preferred match time to be given to Paul Morrissey (086-8166749) before 6pm each Tuesday. Teams will be posted to the club Facebook page in advance of each Thursday night. €4 per person per game. Club Function Room. A reminder that the Function Room/Astro area is available throughout these cold months for that birthday party/function that youd rather not host at home. Booking the facilities can be made with the club treasurer Sean Hogan, 086-1731877 Parents Group. A word of thanks from the club for the continued voluntary work that a group of parents regularly undertake, keeping the club facilities clean and tidy, and ready for use each week. Credit must go to Davy Kelly also, for having the pitches and equipment ready for training sessions and matches alike. These chores do not go unnoticed by the club.
