Club Pet Adoption has graced me with four of the greatest - TopicsExpress

Club Pet Adoption has graced me with four of the greatest treasures Ive ever had. As I watch Winston evolve here, in a home, it warms my heart to know that Dianna and company go to such lengths to save these sweet babies and work so hard at finding them homes. Many dogs have passed through my door, and I love each of them. But like people, they each have their own personalities, strengths and weaknesses. You dont love them any more, or less ... just differently. I adore and love Cuppycake with all my heart, but shes an Alpha and does her own thing and doesnt require much validation of your love ... she knows shes the schnizzle and flaunts it. Benny was already very broken health wise, the diabetes had taken a toll on his little body. I tried so hard to regulate his glucose, not knowing there was a pancreatic tumor as the underlying problem. He was the sweetest guy and took it all in stride up until the very end. And Bush ... I cant even talk about him without bawling like a broken child. I dont know what it was about him, but that child embedded himself so far into my heart, it literally hurt. I feel so cheated, in a way, that I got so little time with him. So along comes Winston ... I see this little face, behind the wire, on his original shelter photo that Dianna posted and I know hes meant to be mine. After his initial evaluation at Club Pet, I tell Dianna that I want him ... she tells me I really dont ... hes dirty and crabby and doesnt feel hed be a good fit for my pack. Im totally bummed. I stress over it for days. Finally, I beg and plead with her :v and she gives in. So home Winston comes. At first, he was a bit crabby, it took me weeks to decipher if he was deaf or ignoring me ... ignoring me won :v But as time went on, his true personality began to show. Seeing him now, so loving and attentive and protective of us, I know in my heart that he never had his own people ... and if he did, they werent very nice to him :-( He has to be with David or I constantly, and he craves attention. he wants hugged and kissed and pet but most of all ... he smiles :D He smiles all the time. His smiles make my heart smile. I know hes old, his hips arent as good as they used to be , his fur is washed out gray , his teeth are worn down ... but those things make him ... and I love him more than life. I just wanted to share that with you, in case anyone ever had second thoughts about adopting a senior pet ... dont fear the heartache ... cherish the love ♥
