Club plates being checked by Highway Patrols. So, I have had - TopicsExpress

Club plates being checked by Highway Patrols. So, I have had Club Plates, special number plates restricted to members of approved car clubs, on my spare car a 1989 first registered 1988 build BMW 735 iL. It qualifies as a Historic car. The registration and third party life and limb insurance is reduced from $670 pa to $67 pa. There are conditions though, I am restricted to 45 days of use per year and I must have a dated log book entry in an official log book completed before I hit the road. I was picked up by the highway patrol in a random stop Sunday. First time in three years that my log book was checked. Had I exercised my compulsive record keeping disorder for three years for nothing? NO sir-ree. It was all up to code. So for all the hoons on the road, they even pick on old codger cars for random breath, road worthy, and driver licence checks. The 4 grey haired passengers were most impressed that my log book was up to scratch. I mentioned to the patrol officer that this was the first time ever for me that my log book was requested. He said highway patrol as distinct from police, always check. Seems fair.
