Cmon 101.5, you can see the determination and unification in the Toms River community, that has rallied behind a young woman and her abducted dog Jeter. Several other news agencies have been kind and caring enough to share their story. Why not 101.5. You typically cover both the hard news and softer public interest news for the Jersey Shore. If not for the dog and family themselves and the thousand plus Facebook friends and other concerned citizens, do it for the feel good merit. Do it for the connection to the NY Yankee Captain connection, for which this sweet dog was named, as he makes his final farewell tour . Do it because Jeter is a pittie, a breed destroyed across our nation in huge numbers, DAILY, just because of the stigma attached by some, to this breed. Do it because its the right thing to do. The Jersey Shore, as a region has faced some terrible obstacles over the past few years. Jeter had given many people in this Ocean County community something to rally behind. While Seaside and neighboring areas like Ortley Beach are struggling to cut through the red tape nearly two years after Sandy swept away homes, livelihoods and dreams; where FEMA and city , state and federal governments have effectively tied the hands of long time home owners and insurance companies have come up short- a white pup with baby blue eyes, has helped to bring these same people together and given them something to work together for - something that seems not entirely beyond their power to accomish. Bringing Jeter home at this point may be a long shot, but for this community, that has seen so much negativity and despair recently, the quest to bring him home- as a united front, has itself brought so much heart back into the area, that the movement itself shouldnt be ignored. This isnt just a lost pup anymore. This is a crusade of determined individuals, complete with posters, flyers, wristbands and fundraisers, enough to give the local political races a run for their money, to secure an untaken telephone pole for their election posters. This is a community trying to do whats right; something they still feel is within their ability . This IS Jersey Strong. A little help from your end couldnt hurt. And it would be immensely appreciated. If a Texan in his drivers ID photo, wearing a colander on his head is news worthy , then surely, why not Jeter and the movement to bring him home?
