Coach Praises Para-powerlifters By Lekan Adedeji Nigeria para-powerlifters have been given kudos for their relentless efforts in making Nigeria proud in any international competition they participate in despite the negligence the sport is suffering from in the country. Delta State powerlifting coach, Jude Iduh made this known to SportsDay at Lagos National Stadium, after a training session with his athletes. Iduh appreciated their determination to press on in spite of the fact that there is no encouragement from anywhere that can make them enjoy modern training facilities that other athletes from other parts of the world are exposed to. According to him, the success of the athletes is due to their personal interest and the passion they have for the sport, because the situation of the country is not helping and that is the main reason many of Nigeria athletes prefer to represent another countries. So he advised them to keep it up because with the available facilities that they think are outdated they can still do more than what they are doing if they are neither discouraged nor distracted, after all with these they have brought a lot of medals to the country. “I appreciate these athletes, as you see them, they pass through challenges yet they come to gym to train every blessed day. Even the gym is nothing to write home about, it is not well equipped and it lacks modern facilities which the athletes need to improve themselves. “Notwithstanding, I advise them not to relent, they still have a long way to go so they should not be discouraged and make use of what is available for them,” he said.
